Looking After Your Health & Wellbeing in the Jewellery Quarter

One of the lesser known strengths of the Jewellery Quarter is how much support for your health and wellbeing is just around the corner. You don’t need to go far or make big changes  a lot of what helps is already nearby, and is easy to slot into your routine over time.

Whether it’s getting the practical things set up, finding a place to move your body, or just having somewhere you can pause for a bit, there are plenty of options once you start to notice them.

Getting the basics in place: GPs, Dental and Pharmacies

Having a few of the basics sorted can make everything else feel a bit more settled.

There’s a local GP at Hockley Medical Practice, and nearby options like Summerfield Urgent Treatment Centre if you need something more immediate. For hospital care, Midland Metropolitan University Hospital serves the wider area.

Dental care is close too, with Broadway Dental Suite just a few streets away, and for prescriptions or quick advice, the pharmacies at Hockley Medical Practice and Tesco Spring Hill Pharmacy are nearby.

These are the kinds of things it’s worth setting up early, even if you don’t need them straight away.

Wellbeing

Grounded Cafe is a wonderful community resource, a place to sit, reset, or take a break between things. With accessible therapy available through NHS and Living Well Consortium, a great coffee shop and a list of wellbeing related events, its worth bookmarking.

Volunteering

If you’re looking for a fulfilling way to spend your time and meet people, there are plenty of interesting opportunities in the Jewellery Quarter. Volunteering is a great way to feel like part of the community and fill your cup. Find opportunities: LINK

Excercise and holistic movement in the Jewellery Quarter

There’s quite a mix of movement based spaces in the Jewellery Quarter, and they don’t all feel the same.

If you’re looking for something calmer or lower-impact, places like Loop Yoga & Pilates Studio, COOL Pilates, or Nervous Yoga offer more structured, steady sessions. The Pretty Sweaty Stuff combines yoga, pilates and barre with a slightly more relaxed, spa-like feel, while The Art of Movement focuses on slower, controlled movement through gyrotonic training.

There are also options that feel a bit more social or different from a typical class. Paws & Breathe UK runs puppy yoga sessions, and spaces like Diversity Studio or CDOB Brazilian Cultural Centre bring in dance and capoeira, which can feel more like learning something new rather than your average work out.

If you prefer something more high-energy or structured, there are gyms and training spaces like The Pit Gym, SMR Fitness, or boxing and kickboxing spaces including KBX Training and The Eagle Kickboxing Academy.

And then there are options like Birmingham Bouldering Centre, which offer something a bit different again, more about movement, problem-solving, and learning new skills.

Finding what fits into your life

What tends to work here isn’t doing everything, it’s finding one or two things that fit around your day.

That might be:

  • A regular class you look forward to
  • A place you stop in during the week
  • Something you dip into occasionally when you have the time
