Precious Gems Film Club returns with a Sunday afternoon screening of Nomadland.
Fern drifts through a van-based life after losing her home, not as an act of freedom, but as a kind of steady survival. This is a film built through atmosphere, where seasonal jobs, fleeting connections and vast landscapes gradually form a portrait of people living on the margins of a system that has moved on without them.
The film never romanticises or pities this way of life. Instead, Fern’s gentle resistance to settling down becomes a meditation on grief, independence, and the uneasy cost of belonging versus staying untethered.
Winner of Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress at the Academy Awards, Nomadland is a beautifully restrained and deeply human film, best experienced in the company of others.
Come along, settle in, and join us for a thoughtful Sunday afternoon film screening in the Jewellery Quarter.
