Book Club JQ is a welcoming and sociable monthly community gathering based in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, designed for people who love reading and thoughtful conversation. It is a space to connect with others, discover new books, and share perspectives in a relaxed and informal environment.
Each month, the group selects a book to read in advance, spanning a variety of genres—from contemporary fiction and classics to non-fiction and thought-provoking reads. When we meet, we come together to discuss the book, exchange ideas, and hear different interpretations, making each session engaging and unique.
There is no pressure to be an expert—just bring your thoughts, whether you have read every page or simply want to listen and be part of the discussion.
The atmosphere is friendly, open, and inclusive, making it a great way to meet new people as well as explore new books.
We meet at local venues in the Jewellery Quarter but mostly Alterna, creating a cosy and comfortable setting for conversation. All tickets are free but we kindly ask you support our venues by making a purchase when attending, no matter how small.
Whether you are an avid reader or looking to get back into reading, Book Club JQ offers an enjoyable and low-pressure way to do it.
