Community Cinema Projectionist

We’re looking for a Projectionist volunteer to help support Precious Gems Film Club, our volunteer-run, not-for-profit community cinema in the Jewellery Quarter.

About The Role

We’re looking for a Projectionist volunteer to help support Precious Gems Film Club, our volunteer-run, not-for-profit community cinema in the Jewellery Quarter.

This is a practical behind-the-scenes role that is central to making our screenings happen. It includes setting up and controlling the projector, screen and sound equipment before and during screenings, taking care of equipment between screenings, replacing or updating equipment as needed, and ordering copies of films for projection.

It’s a great role for someone practical, dependable and interested in the technical side of film screenings. You do not need to know everything already. We are happy to share our knowledge and help you learn as part of the role.

All volunteers attend as many monthly meetings, usually on Wednesdays, as they can and help out at monthly screenings regularly. All volunteers get to submit film suggestions to our selection list and join in the discussion about what films we should show next. We will share our knowledge gained so far with you when you join, so you won’t be in at the deep end.

As a thank you, Projectionist volunteers receive free tickets to screenings.
