Keeping Things In Perspective: Getting to Grips with Perspective and Developing Your Drawing Skills with Ed Isaacs PRBSA
Getting out and about sketching the urban environment around us is one of life’s great pleasures. This one-day workshop will help you improve your drawing skills with a particular focus on perspective. Working inside the gallery we will draw the interior with Ed producing a demonstration sketch showing how he makes an accurate representation. You will then produce your own. Later on in the day, working from photographs, we will look at other ways you can improve your drawing skills
Morning:
Welcome, introductions, and outline for the day
Introduction to perspective and foreshortening
Exercise 1: Perspective - A demonstration drawing of the interior of the Gallery followed by producing a perspective drawing of your own
Afternoon:
Exercise 2: Architectural styles
Introduction to developing your own drawing style
Exercise 3: Drawing styles
Your own preferred drawing instruments, i.e. pencils, pens etc.
It is useful if you go online beforehand and look at artists who are well known for drawing buildings e.g. David Gentleman, Paul Hogarth, Chris Lee, Simone Ridyard. Who do you like and why?
There will be a small selection of drawing materials available at the Gallery.
Tickets:£65
