Road Safety in the Quarter

Road safety was identified by residents as the JQ Neighbourhood Forum’s biggest priority for 2026. This campaign is about gathering evidence, building partnerships, and pushing for safer streets across the Jewellery Quarter and surrounding areas.

About The Campaign

Safer streets for the Jewellery Quarter

At the last Neighbourhood Forum AGM, residents identified road safety as the biggest priority for 2026.

Across the Jewellery Quarter and surrounding streets, concern about road danger has grown sharply. Residents have raised repeated issues around high-speed driving, poor parking, unsafe crossings, cars using residential streets as cut-throughs, vehicles failing to stop at red lights, and a number of crashes and serious incidents. For many people, it is becoming harder to walk around the area safely and confidently.

This campaign has been created to push for change.

What happens next

The Forum will work to build partnerships with the right people and organisations to take this issue forward. That means listening carefully to residents, gathering strong local evidence, and using that evidence to push for practical improvements.

But first, we need to hear directly from the people who live here.

Tell us about your experience

We are asking residents to complete a short survey about road safety in the area.

We want to understand:

  • where the main danger points are
  • which streets or junctions feel most unsafe
  • what kinds of behaviour people are seeing
  • and what changes residents most want to happen

This will help shape the campaign and make sure it is rooted in real experiences from across the area.

Cultural Impact
  • Responds directly to the top priority identified by residents at the AGM for 2026.
  • Gives residents a clear way to share evidence and shape the campaign from the start.
  • Builds the case for safer, more walkable streets across the Jewellery Quarter and surrounding areas.
  • Creates a foundation for stronger partnerships, advocacy, and practical road safety improvements.
  • Helps make the area safer, more accessible, and more liveable for everyone.
